Steven S. Feder is a principal with Hathaway, Perrett, Webster, Powers, Chrisman & Gutierrez.
Steve practices in the areas of estate planning, probate, complex trusts, business associations, corporations and sophisticated tax matters. He is a certified specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law by the State Bar of California.
Steve is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in computer engineering. He was regularly on the Dean’s list while earning his degree and was a member of two engineering honor societies.
Steve received his Juris Doctor and Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of San Diego. While in law school, he earned a Merit Scholarship, served as a staff writer for the law school journal, was a finalist in the Attorney-Client Moot Court competition and earned the highest grade in several of his classes.
Steve previously worked for the Internal Revenue Services as a District Counsel Attorney. He continues to be involved in complex estate planning with an emphasis on the transition of family wealth and the reduction of estate taxes.
Steve is a frequent lecturer on estate planning, corporate and tax topics. He is an Adjunct Law Professor at Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law where he has taught Wills and Trusts, Corporations, Business Associations, Tax, Interviewing and Counseling and Estate Planning for over two decades. He has also taught Estate Planning in the MBA program at California Lutheran University.
Steve lives in Camarillo with his wife, who is a Chief of Staff for the US Government. He has two sons. One son goes to Harvard Law School and the other son is a licensed commercial pilot, having earned a B.S. degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
Steve is a strong supporter of civic and charitable organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Ventura Foundation where he serves as a director. He has also served as a director of the Ventura County Bar Association and is a long term member of the education committee of the Estate Planning Law Section of the Ventura County Bar Association.
