Alejandro Gutierrez is an of counsel attorney with The Hathaway Law Firm.    He is originally from Uruguay and is fluent in Spanish.

Alex received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1982.

Alex’s practice is primarily in the areas of labor and employment, handling class action lawsuits and other litigation matters in federal and state courts.  Alex handles wage and hour matters, including overtime, meal break and unpaid wages on termination, as well as unreimbursed expenses, misclassifications as an independent contractor, discrimination and wrongful termination matters.  He was counsel on a class action matter that resulted in one of the largest per class member recovery in California history.

Alex handles matters before administrative agencies, such as the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission and the California Department of Industrial Relations.

Alex is a member of the California State Bar, the Ventura County Bar Association and is authorized to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Court.

Alex lives in Ventura with his wife, Kathy. They have three children, Jason, Lauren (husband, Jeremy), and Nicole and two granddaughters, Rowan and Camden. Outside the office, Alex enjoys flying, golf and traveling.
